President Buhari Confirms Appointment of Two Supreme Court Justices

President Buhari has approved the appointment of two top judges in Nigeria in accordance with the dictates of the Nigerian constitution.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Justices Ejembi Eko and Amina Augie to the Supreme Court bench.

Acting Director, Information, Mr. Soji Oye, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The appointment followed NJC’s earlier recommendation of the two candidates to the President.

According to Oye, the two Justices who were formerly of the Court of Appeal will be sworn in on Monday by the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, who retires on November 10.

The appointment will bring the number of the justices of the apex court to 15 by the time the CJN retires on Thursday.
