54-year-old Wazobia FM radio journalist, Pius-Junior Opute, popularly known as Diplomatic OPJ was allegedly caught yesterday 20th May 2014, urinating in a drainage at Marwa Bus Stop, Lekki, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor Sgt. Daniel Ighodalo, Opute was caught on May 12 around 8:00 p.m urinating at Marwa Bus stop, Lekki which is an offense according to Sections 117 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and Chapter E5, (9e) of the Environmental Sanitation Law of Lagos State. Unfortunately, the reporter resisted arrest and obstructed traffic flow around the Lekki Toll Plaza.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the offender who is said to live at Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos appeared before Tinubu Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He is facing a two-count charge of urinating in a drainage and resisting arrest.
OPJ pleaded not guilty and was granted a bail of N20,000 with one surety in like sum by the magistrate, Mrs Olaitan Ajayi. The case has been adjourned to June 18 for further hearing.
